1st gen Camaro was ~3 years behind the 1964 Mustang.
5th gen Camaro is ~4 years behind the 2005 Mustang. Not that "muscle cars" are going to keep the company afloat, but to build something that is supposed to be some sort of an icon in American automotive society, GM is still missing the boat, more than 40 years later.
